The Pregnancy Resource Center of Lapeer will be having their 2012 fun-raising Banquet at Hunters Creek Community Church on Tuesday, April 24th.

Doors open at 5:30 PM and the silent auction will begin at that time.  Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM.

This years guest speaker is Bob Dutko from WMUZ, Christian Talk Radio, 103.5 FM.

On Saturday, April 28th, six churches will participate in this Men’s Basketball Tournament held at Hunters Creek Community Church Fellowship Hall/Gym.

Super Bowl 46!

Sunday, February 5th at 5:30 PM.

Tickets are now available in the Narthex for this year’s Super Bowl Party, held at the home of Todd Tindall.

This is an outreach opportunity so invite your neighbors, friends and family.

Young men 14 years and older may attend with their father. The price of tickets ($3/person or $5/family) includes snacks and prizes. Please plan to bring a potluck dish to share.

We will be collecting cans of soup for “Souper” Bowl Sunday from our congregation. They will be donated to Love INC.

Please sign the sheet on the narthex table and if you plan to attend and pay Gail McClelland or Karen Hope no later than Sunday, February 5, 2012.

The AWANA program meets every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM till 8:15 PM during the fall and winter months.  (Exceptions will be noted on the church calendar.)

The AWANA dinners are served from 5:45 PM till 6:15 PM. This meal is prepared each AWANA night for the students and all the Wednesday evening workers as well as our church families. A donation is accepted to cover the expense.

On the first three Sundays of every month we offer a Special Education Children’s Church (SECC) during the morning service. This program runs the entire length of the AM service. Please feel free to drop your child off before church starts and pick them up after the service concludes.

SECC is for children with Special Needs. The target age for students is 4-12 years old. We have trained and experienced workers attending to the children each week.

The class meets downstairs in the Kindergarten room.

The program assists your special child in learning God’s word through a variety of ways!

What is GriefShare?

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you after your loss of a spouse, child, family member or friend using God’s Word as a guide. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.

How GriefShare Works

It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:

Video Seminar With Experts

Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments and on-location video.

Support Group Discussion With Focus

After viewing the video, you and the other group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in your lives.

Workbook-Based Personal Study And Reflection

During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.

When To Join A GriefShare Group

You are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. Each is “self-contained,” so you do not have to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you begin. You will be able to continue with GriefShare through the next 13-week cycle and view any of the videos you have not seen.

Who Should Come … Who Should Not

GriefShare is for people grieving the death of a loved one. Many other life situations bring deep grief, such as separation and divorce, a loved one who is dying, estrangement, loss of a loved one to a cult, loss of custody of a child through divorce and more. If you are struggling with a loss not due to a death, GriefShare is not designed to meet your grief needs for healing.

A GriefShare group meets in our main church building each Thursday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. Call the church office to register.

All ladies, 18 years and older, are invited to our Fellowship Hall for some great exercise and fellowship each Thursday throughout the winter months. (Check the bulletin in case of a cancellation)

We will begin at 6:30 P.M.

Please plan to bring non-marking sport shoes to help protect our gym floor.

All men are invited to attend a Saturday morning Prayer Breakfast. Generally the men meet on the third Saturday of the month at 8:00 AM till about 10:00 AM.

The location varies. Some months they meet at a local restaurant and other months they meet in the Fellowship Hall.

Please check the church bulletin for specific locations and dates.
And sign up at the Narthex table if you plan to attend so they may know how many for which to plan.

All men, 18 years and older, are welcome to join us in our Fellowship Hall on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 P.M. till 9:00 P.M., for competitive basketball games.

We will meet every Tuesday throughout the winter months beginning on November 1st through April 17th.

Our Ladies Retreat for 2011 will be held here at Hunters Creek Community Church on November 4th & 5th.

“Jonah Navigating a Life Interrupted”

What do we do when God interrupts our lives? Many times, like Jonah, we run!

In this 7-session Bible study, Priscilla redefines interruption and shows that
interruption is actually God’s invitation to do something beyond our wildest
dreams. When Jonah was willing to allow God to interrupt his life, the result
was revival in an entire city.

The retreat cost is $10 per person if paid by 10/24 or $15 after that date.

This includes all the materials you need, as well as dinner Friday (5pm),

VBS … Each summer we offer a very exciting and active Vacation Bible School Soccer Camp program during the month of July for K-6 graders.

Our VBS Soccer camp, which runs from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M on Monday through Friday, includes exciting and unique learning opportunities from the Bible and through soccer drills and games.

Our VBS Soccer Camp has been a tremendous outreach into our community with over 100 children participating each summer for the last several years.

We have been fervently praying over the past several months for God to provide the remaining amount needed to retire the debt we owed on our Fellowship Hall by December 15 when our balloon payment was due. God heard our cry! After much fervent prayer the Lord provided all that was needed and more! When news was reported at the end of our morning service on December 12, we rose to praise the Lord with an extended round of applause! It was awesome! We serve a great and mighty God who delights to do more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

Luke tells us that the shepherds made widely known what they had heard and seen concerning Christ who they had found lying in a manger just as the angels had told them (Luke 2:17). I’ve been seeking to do the same over the past couple of days regarding this tremendous answer to prayer. I’ve been telling almost everyone I meet about this demonstration of God’s goodness and provision. Yesterday I had the privilege and joy of taking a check for the remaining amount to the bank to retire the debt. The banker, who was a believer in Christ, was greatly encouraged by what God had done. At the end of our time together I led us in a prayer of thanksgiving. It was a tremendous opportunity to bring glory to God! Anytime God answers prayer or demonstrates His power and goodness, we ought to tell others just as we are encouraged to do in Psalm 145:3-7 which reads, “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.”
